Self-publishing is equal parts passion project and endurance test. Since 2017, I’ve released 11 books (with plenty more waiting in the wings), and while the grind can feel overwhelming—long nights at the desk, endless marketing, and the uphill battle of competing with giants like Marvel and DC—it’s the little wins that keep me going. Every sale, every review, every returning reader who says, “I couldn’t put it down,” makes the late nights worth it. This weekend in Belleville, a fan who tore through The Herd in a single sitting came back for the entire Farm Freaks series—one of those small but powerful reminders that hard work (or should I say Herd work) really does pay off.

Creating your very own cartoon book is an exciting journey from the first doodle to the final print. It's like embarking on a magical quest, where your pen (or stylus) is your wand, and the blank page is a portal to worlds unknown.

Visiting my best friend’s family home in Port Perry, ON, a 200+-year-old structure that once served as the town's first hospital, was like stepping into a story where the past refused to stay silent. Despite its ordinary exterior, the interior revealed its historical roots, adorned with Victorian antiques that, while beautiful, often felt eerie. It wasn't until my first overnight stay, unaware of the house's haunted reputation, that I encountered the unmistakable presence of the past.
