Duel Dragons in An Obscene Halloween
I created this back in 2003 using Flash as my first attempt at syncing animation to music using the characters from my comic series Duel Dragons (yet to be published, but a future project). The pacing and movement aren’t as smooth or refined as I’d approach it today, but it served as an early experiment in timing, rhythm, and visual storytelling. In truth, it’s more of an animated storyboard sequence — one of my very first explorations into combining motion and narrative with music.
U.L.F. (Unintelligible Life Forms) in ANALIENATE
Another animation and storyboard sequence I created in 2004 to tell a story through music rather than dialogue. It features a group of alien characters I originally had other plans for, but the project was eventually shelved. These four aliens later found new life in my Farm Freaks series. This short also experiments with a chain-reaction sequence that, quite brutally, annihilates everyone — a clear nod to the web series Happy Tree Friends, which inspired me at the time. It was a quick, two-day project that let me experiment with timing, rhythm, and visual chaos I just needed to get out of my system. Warning - Contains Graphic Cartoon Violence
This animation test sequence was created in 2008, around the time I first developed Farm Freaks. It was originally intended to serve as the home page for a Flash-based website featuring animated shorts, stories, and games from the series. Users would have been able to click on different locations—like the barn or farmhouse—to explore new pages and content. Unfortunately, as Flash began to phase out, the project was shelved. Years later, in 2021, Farm Freaks was reborn as a graphic novel with a fresh direction, new storylines, and redesigned characters—offering a great comparison between the early concept and the final evolution seen in the books.
Something I started but never finished. For my own entertainment /practice with animation, I was going to animate this scene from Seinfeld where Kramer tells the story about the severed pinky toe. I was going to show the story he tells about stopping the mugger on the bus while saving the pinky toe for Toby. I never finished this, but here is a sample of what I started.
